In December I flew out to SF and then by bus to Reno to see Oliver in SF and our sister in Nevada. While in Frisco I had the pleasure of hanging out for 3 days in the recording studio with the group. They were the first group in the bay area to record on a 8 tack Scully system. If you wanted 8 tracks you had to go to LA or NY. They were their while the techs figured out how to use all this new equipment. The guys got to jam on endlessly while the techs worked with mic placements and finish wiring up all the cables to go in to the massive mixing board. They had 2 tracks that the producer wanted them to tie together. During a lunch break I stood next to an upright piano while Oliver played around with ideas on how to link You’re The Woman & It’s Not Good. After lunch they mic’d up the piano and in about 3 takes Oliver had laid down the classical link. David & Frank still keep busy playing music from time to time, Oliver moved to P’cola with his bride and he played locally in bands for 20 years prior to moving into computer graphics at University of West Florida. Their son Matthew took up the guitar and been playing locally in a couple of bands for about 20 years as well. A year ago in about April we were all saddened by the news that Randy had passed away, he had stayed busy playing live and doing studio session work all over California.
The producer for the 5th Pipe Dream track was Marcus Uzilevsy, he went on to record an album of his own and is now a very successful painter and artist in California. Oliver/Frank/David & Marcus all have Face Book pages.
gregghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02180989732736332172noreply@blogger.com
