Stoneground was a rock band formed in 1970 in Concord, California. Originally a trio, Stoneground expanded to a 10-piece band by the time of their eponymous 1971 debut album. The group appeared in two films, Medicine Ball Caravan (1971) and Dracula AD 1972 (1972), and released three albums before singer Sal Valentino quit in 1973. Three other band members - Cory Lerios, Steve Price and David Jenkins - left to form pop group Pablo Cruise. Stoneground continued as an act through 1982, with only Tim Barnes and Annie Sampson remaining from the early incarnation of the band. Barnes and Price led a reformed Stoneground in 2003 and released a studio album the following year.

Bill, do you by chance happen to have a copy of Medicine Ball Caravan? I've never been able to find a digital copy although I had 2 scratchy copies of the record. There are versions of songs on it that can't be found anywhere else.

I saw Stoneground in a small club in Boulder, CO. sometime in the summer of 1972. I smuggled in a small cassette tape recorder, put it on my table, and recorded 45 minutes. The sound quality was terrible but back then I would pop a cassette into my car cassette player (that cost a pretty penny to install) and drive to school in Denver listening to Stoneground and anything else I damn well wanted to, instead of the radio, which played nothing but crap.
Thanks for the post. I'll put it on my iPod, plug it into my car system, and enjoy the ride.
