DUNCAN OUT>HOPKINS IN
So Gary Duncan decides to leave the band and they ask Nick Gravenites to join. He did not stick as a band member but did indeed form a great musical relationship with John Cipollina. They recruit world reknown keyboard player Nicky Hopkins( who had already racked up countless credits with other recording artists) He fit right in and added a new level of creativity to the QMS sound and would remain with them for several years. Interesting is the fact that the LP "Shady Grove" would be produced by Nick Gravenites

Never had this one, thank you!?
Englishman Hopkins, one of the greatest musicians ever, could play with anybody he likes chooses super cool San Francisco band Quicksilver. says it all really...holy moly!!
Thank you. This one is a fun listen. Any info on where Disc one is from? Is it live in the studio, or at a small club. I don't hear Nicky Hopkins on this part either, must be from before they recruited him.
Hello,
Great. I never heard about this one. many thanks for sharing. never enough of Quicksilver.
Best regards,
drogos
Thank you for all of the Great music you share with all of us. I am from SF..grew up there and was very fortunate to see and hear many incredible bands. Thanks again
This is great, thank you very much. The first disc sounds like rehearsals for Nick Gravenites solo album "My Labors". QMS have long been rumored to appear on the album. No credits were given on the original album, and on the re-release only the bonus tracks (live) have credits.Very cool to hear these discs. I saw QMS through all the incarnations (Jim Murray to Dino), and thought the 4 piece bands (both times Duncan or Hopkins) were the best live.

on d1, the correct order is probably:
3. Holy Moly
5. Moon Song
4. Medley
6. My Labors
just switch 4. and 5. when you listen.
I-)
